Blog love

One of my soakers has been featured over at The Nappy Spot blog, as one of their bits of handmade woolly goodness. Cool beans!

Carrot Conniptions

As I've mentioned before (I think), Jae's pediatrician advised that we introduce new foods one at a time. Last week, Jae tried carrots. Usually, food is met with smiles and eagerness.  Not so this time. Before I could even get the carrots into Jae's mouth, she started the gagging, and the faces.  It was hilarious, in a "dramatic baby" sort of way, until I got a face full of carrot mush (regurgitated), and the fat fists of fury grabbed the bowl off the high chair tray (quite impressive considering the fact that the bowl was attached with a suction bottom), and pelted carrot puree down to the floor.  It was quite a cleanup. In the end I had to dunk baby into the bath, as she was covered (hair to teeny toes) in now-crusty orange mush.

Also, under construction, my latest pair of shoes.  These are halfway done. Destined for Textures, unless someone orders them first.  They're in my 6-9 month size (4.5 inches long x 2.5 inches wide).  I'm thinking about putting this type of shoe in my etsy shop as a custom order (where customers tell me the length and pick a fabric, and I make them to order), since it is so difficult to assign ages to baby feet sizes. Some babies are born with bigger feet and grow into them, while some (like Jae), have teensy toes.  It's easy to gauge size if you're standing in a local shop, holding the shoes in your hand.  Not so easy on the internet.

Things I've been working on

Jae's PT suggested that she start wearing shoes with grippy soles for standing and crawling practice, so I came up with these.  Just in time, too.  I've been told that there have been requests for bigger shoes and grippy soles for older babies at Textures.  These are a little more solid than the other shoe - with a layer of felt between the two layers of cotton - but still soft and flexible.  I'll test these on Jae for a couple of weeks, tweak them, and take them in.
