Uh oh...

Jae has learned to roll. Her physical therapist taught her on Monday, and she picked it right up!

Trouble trouble trouble...

Summer's almost over...

and I'm starting to face the fact that I'm going to have to get myself together.

When you go to school for a living, its really easy to slide into what I call "Production Mode" - reading, writing, churning out papers, and focusing on nothing else. This is how I made it through my Masters degree and the first two years of my PhD. Now, with a four-month old, I don't see myself being able to put all my focus into school. For the first time I really get that whole "mommy track" thing.

As part of my "organize me" plan, I'm going to resurrect the list system (thanks Miss Safiya for that). At the end of each day, I'm going to make a list of what needs to be accomplished for the next day and week. Hopefully that helps me to keep on top of my big four endeavors: School, Home, Church and Etsy shop.

On the Needles: Baby Pants

While we've been worried about recovery (and I've been worried about my paper), Jaelyn has been growing! So I have a new pair of pants on the needles. Sunshiney yellow!

Oh, and I got a new ball of Turteldove yarn from My Hedgehog Knits!

As finally, as a bonus...baby feet.

A Gift for cousin Denise...

For those of you who don't know, Jaelyn is one of a set of Gibson "triplets" this year - Jerrold and both his brothers had daughters in 2009. Danica is the oldest, then Jaelyn, then Denise. I made these as a gift for Denise, and am working on a few sets for my shop (to match some of the knits in the shop). Jae got a little jealous so I let her model them for the photo.

Also...

who thought it was a good idea to make baby medicine mint-flavored? What 3 month old eats mints?

Some highlights from this morning's battle...
Distracted and unawares...

She sees the medicine in my hand...

Done!

And life is good...

Knitting something new

So, I'm trying my hand at designing some knitting patterns. Working on a slim fitting waistband, some colorwork, and some felted soakers. I love the way felted soakers work, but I need to work on making them a bit more attractive. Also trying my hand at intarsia, but the question is, how do you do intarsia in the round for non-repeating patterns? Any ideas?

The current pile of tangles...

Guess what!

I have an etsy shop!

A few of my etsy things...

AND Jaelyn is doing VERY well. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. She's still healing (about 7 weeks more) but she had no problems other than a shocking case of reflux that landed her back at Shands after we had gotten her home. We are so very very happy to have her happy and healthy and home. FINALLY. :)
