Time to get back to writing papers...

I need to finish a paper before Jaelyn's surgery next week. But first, an early morning walk in the garden...

We spy with our little eyes:

Strawberries

and Canteloupe

chard...

and chickens!

She's not getting any younger

Saffie has decided (as of last week) to guard every clutch of eggs laid. So that means that every morning, I am forced into a tense confrontation with an angry hen who refuses to move out of the nest box, and every afternoon, I get pouty (as much as a chicken can pout without lips), condemning glances from the coop when I go to collect tomatoes. Such is life.

In other news, our DD has to have heart surgery. And we're sort of...

yeah. can't even find a word. So, on the 23rd, we have to take our sweet little girl of 2 months to Shands in hopes that they can fix her heart. We're praying. And we're asking that you pray. Even those of you we don't know. Because I haven't been a mother for very long, but...you know...

But. Shaking that off (as much as possible) for a minute - Jae is quite a character. She loves (LOVES LOOOOVES) to eat. And she's growing like...a weed (original, I know). She's growing like a...canteloupe vine in June. :) She doubled her birthweight in 2 months, and is now 13 lbs. Her doctors and service providers (Early intervention, etc.) are shocked and amazed. So we're very thankful for that, and it makes waking up at 3 am for feedings (and changings) a pleasure.

And, AND! Look at this.

Have you ever SEEN such a sweet thing? It should be bottled and sold.
