My Information Access Question of the Day

Sometimes Most of the day, questions about information float around in my head. It can get pretty bad - post it notes, slips of paper around the house, writing on hubby's arm. I feel for him, really.

Since you all come from different fields of expertise, I thought I would share a bit of my insanity. And if you know of any articles I could read (you can just email me directly) that would be great, too.

I suppose one question at a time is quite enough, so I'll limit it for now:

How do people in rural communities (worldwide, for those of you outside the country) find information that helps them secure (grow, find, buy) food, water, health, emergency and legal information (Ms. A.M) for themselves and their families? I'd guess there are differences between rural communities in poverty and rural communities that are high income, and differences between different countries.
